IZZY
Dear Sponsor, my name is Izzy and I am the new girl on the block. They say I am a delightful 6 year old Liver and White Springer. Until recently, I had been in the same home since I was a pup, but then I developed epilepsy. This is where the kind people at NWESSR stepped in to help me. Not only have they found me a brilliant new home, but they pay for my medication. I have to take no less than 10 tablets daily. But since I have been on these, I have had no fits, so it looks like my vet has it under control. I am very affectionate with my new carers, and I even have a couple of canine chums to live with. I am still a bit wary of strangers and new dogs, but it will all come in good time.
Love and licks

GHILLIE
Hi Everybody my name is Ghillie,

I am a five year old liver and white working Springer. Unfortunately I was attacked on a shoot and am now very suspicious of other dogs coming up behind me. I love lots of excerise and am used to running around most of the day so am not suitable to live with many families. I am a bit of a noisy boy and bark a lot so am not able to live in all homes as I may cause a problem with the neighbours. I do love humans though and am one of the most affectionate dogs you could ever meet. Thank you to NWESSR for having such patience with me.

Please sponsor me-woof Ghillie x

Hello Sponsors, Ghillie here!

Here's my Summer update...

Everything is great with me. After my bad experiences with other dogs I am growing into a much more confident Springer who is comfortable with myself.

Although sometimes other dogs are a scary experience for me, I don't need to wear my muzzle when out walking in company anymore.

Almost as if to compensate, for uncomfortable relationships with other dogs, I'm am now incredibility fond of people. I now play so much more in the house and can get great speed up when running up and down the stairs while trying to get as much attention as I possibility can !!!

I love my wlaks on the beach and ofton take my ball with me. We are inseparable and I won't even chase seagulls if my ball needs me to look after it.

Thank you for sponsoring me. Without dedicate sponsors like you, small working springers like me wouldn't be given a second chance.

ROSIE
Hello Everybody-it's Rosie here. As you can see the camera was not quick enough to capture the wagging of my tail! I am doing very well and receiving lots of care and attention. I have 2 new neighbours a Jack Russell and a Boxer who are very nice-I must go around and show them my new haircut! My eyes are still a problem but thanks to my sponsors I am not wanting for anything-thank you very much to you all!

Love and wags, Rosie

Hello Sponsors, Rosie here!

We've not had much of a Summer this year have we, but, I have managed to enjoy some nice walks when the weather has allowed. Nothing very exciting to report, but, I am keeping very well for an old lady and I am enjoying my food and exercise, and my tail still never stops wagging!

Thank you very much for sponsoring me-it is very kind. Without generous sponsors, me and my Springer friends who need that extra bit of looking after would not be as lucky as we are today and many of us in dire straights would not have made it!

Thank you for sponsoring me.

HARRY
Hello, I'm Harry. I used to have a home but I started to have trouble seeing where I was going. They took me to the Vet man and he said I had a problem with my retina and it would be very expensive to operate. We went home and I thought it would be ok but then we went out again and they let me out of the car and drove away and left me. I wandered around for a few days very lost and lonely then someone found me and brought me to NWESSR. They arranged for me to see a Specialist (it costs £204 and may cost more). I asked them if I could be a Sponsor Dog because I want to raise money for other unwanted Springers because its horrid when you are lost and afraid. I am off to my new home any day to join Charles and Meg (NWESSR Dogs). Sponsor me to read all about my adventures and my new friends.

Hi all I'm having a lovely life, thanks to NWESSR. I am about 4 years old now. The specialist likes to see me every six months as my eyes are getting worse. The retina has now slipped down inside the eye - but I do have some sight. I regularly go for 15 mile hikes with my Dad, who has taught me how to negotiate the rocks. I have lots of stamina and Dad says that I am amazing! I have been made 'Honorary Bell Ringer' as I go with Dad to bell ringing practice at church and like to join in (and make a loud noise!)

Thank you very much for sponsoring me.

TILLY
Hello all, Tilly here.

Im still doing very well here with David and Pat.

Christmas came and I had lots of pressies, toys, which only lasted the day!! (I love to eat them) and lots of chew bones and biscuits, they would only last the day but they get taken away from me and I only have a few a day. Over Christmas I played stare at the christmas ball on the tree. I could stare for over 20 mins without looking away, and just hoped I could take it, but every time I made a move for one I was spotted!!!. It was a different matter the moment they left the room. I think they have a good few missing for next year.

I am still looking after this small puppy thing called Titch, and I'm still called mummy dog. He is a pain but I do like him. We have play fights and start barking at each other. (This is great fun when the people are watching the tv, ha ha).

I still love my walks although I'm not able to go as far as I used to, and I hate the wet and rain. I'm really hoping we don't get that white stuff called snow because I really hate that and I wont go outside at all. Really looking forward to warmer weather.
That's all for now.
Lots of love Tilly.

BOBBY
Hello My Name is Bobby,

I am a good boy who used to work for the police as a sniffer dog but I have retired due to health grounds. I have a skin disease with a funny name skin problem 'sarcoptic mange' which will hopefully be cleared up soon with some effective treatment. I also have a problem with my bowels so am to undergo blood tests and skin scrapes. Mr Vet thinks I may have a hernia which is causing the pain and is referring for a second opinion to another vet.

Please sponsor me-all of these visits to the vets are becoming very costly!

Hello Sponsors, Bobby here!

What do you think of my trendy curly hairdo!! I've just been to the groomers and have been pampered for over an hour.

I'm doing very very well. As you can see from my picture, my prescription diet really suits me and I am a good weight with a glossy coat and my skin problems have all gone away,

My mum has been taking me to training classes and I am a little star. When I came to my new home a year ago now I wasn't very good off the lead, but, now I walk to heal and if I go too far away form my mum I stop and wait to see where she is. I'm told that's very good for a Springer !!

For all my good work on the heal, my mum still says that I am a cheeky chappie as I'm often found getting up to lots of mischief and I still think that I am king of the road when traveling in our camper van.

Thank you for sponsoring me.

MEG & BEN
Meg is a 12 year old Black and White Springer, who was taken on, at age 2, by her owner as a failed working dog. Her companion, Ben, who is Liver and White and is also 12 years old was also rescued by the present owner. Both are good family dogs - love people and children and are well socialised with other dogs. Unfortunately, Ben is now blind and he needs Meg to give him support. Their current owner is emigrating; hence NWSSR has found them a loving home, together.

Ben had a large lump, which has been attended to and he is partially deaf. Meg and Ben have settled down very well with their new foster parents and Meg greets them like she has known them all her life.

Ben, as he is having some trouble walking and getting up, Meg on the other hand is at the front door as soon as she sees you grab your coat waiting for her chance to go out. She really enjoys her walks. Both Meg and Ben are getting on well with the Cocker in the household and up to now there have been no problems, except that Meg chases Ben off the food bowl and the bed, so the house has feed bowls in all four corners of the kitchen!

Please sponsor us a our vets bills are quite high but we are wonderful golden oldies and are so glad to have been given a second chance.
Woofs, Meg and Ben xx

TITCH
Titch came to NWESSR at the beginning of May 2007. He was just skin and bone, but he was the happiest little dog that we had ever seen. He couldn’t keep anything down not even water; anything that went in came back in bulk. He had no energy to walk or play, but somehow he still managed to find the strength to interact with the other dogs but only for a very short time. He wanted to be like the big dogs!

Titch weighed just under 4kg and he was nearly six months old! The vets were speechless. They suspected that Titch had a Porto systemic shunt and would need major surgery. The tests started here it was heartbreaking watching needles being put into Titch’s skin as there was no fat there, but he just kept wagging his tail. All the tests did point to the shunt and he was referred to a specialist vets. With the help of medication to try and stop him being sick we were told to try and get some weight on him so that the surgery could be performed.

Titch endured weeks of tests and procedures. More than once we were told he may not survive. But Titch did! He was started on steroids and within weeks the sickness had stopped and he was gaining weight. Titch will have to remain on the steroids for the rest of his life.

Titch has shown guts and determination and the strongest will to live, taking all the treatments in his stride and remaining happy, to everyone's amazement.

Without NWESSR and his wonderful foster carers, Titch would not be here now.
