Dear hoomans and other Springie things,
Well another busy week at the madhouse - you will never guess....I have got a new sister....so soon.. but I am chuffed as she plays with me and races me round the garden. She is very funny though as she has a wonky leg but it doesn't stop her being very fast - I am having trouble catching her! She is not quite a Springer but apparently something called a working cocker - bit like us Springies but smaller and made for the same job. My hoomans have let her come to stay because their police job could not take her due to her wonky leg - although they say she has a good nose so my lady hooman will be training her to work with the birds in the woods - great fun! We shall see if her nose is as good as they say - so far we have hunted for rabbits and she did find a very small vole thing when we were out so they are probably right. Her name is now Gladys - we are sleeping together - all above board though as although she is only 8 months old, I am old enough and she has had the lady op.
Talking of me being a boy and 'man things' - this week the hoomans also took me to the vet place which I like. They gave me a chip - they said it was to stop my libido - I have never even been to the lido although I do like swimming a lot! Also, I think I was hard done by as although I got a chip I did not get any fish til later when the man hooman had his tea and gave us all some nice white fish from his leftovers.
I have been very busy and bought the hoomans home a bit of lamb carcass I found in the field - me and Edgar had a bit of a tussle over it for a while which was fun but the lady hooman then took it and put it in the bin - can you believe it - how ungrateful! Talking of food, I am so enjoying my bones and stuff. I went to visit the man with the white coat again and he gave me a really meaty one which took me ages to chew. I was so full up after I slept for ages.
This week I have also been to learn to play a game the hoomans call flyball - it is a bit easy as all you do is jump on a box and then the tennis ball comes out. As I am such a brilliant catcher I am pretty good at it already - I still have to learn to do the jumps to get to the box and back but to be honest I love the tennis ball so much I will probably race to it. I have also learnt to wait at the gate for the hoomans and to release the ball and dummy to them when they say 'dead'. This is good 'cos then I get to go and get it again. This week we made the special treat with something called 'kippers'. they smelt yummy but I was very good and waited to get the spoon. I have learnt not to eat the whole spoon now but just to lick the mixture. We all have to be on the bed to get it - Gladys is learning this very quick. Stanley is the best - he is soooo greedy he just sits on the bed all the time waiting for hooman food! He is on something the hoomans call weight watchers!

Me and Edgar and Hilda played for ages in the creaky house garden finding and chasing tennis balls. We have finished there now though, as Frodo's hoomans came back from a place called France. I hope we can go again as I got to stay over with the lady hooman again this week and we had lovely cuddles all night. Oh, I nearly forgot I also went with the lady hooman to a place she calls work. This was at night too. I had a special bed under her feet so kept them warm for her. When she went out I stayed asleep under the desk place til she came back. When it was light we went home to see the gang - the lady hooman was very tired but I was raring to go as I had been asleep all night there. I hope I can go there again - lots of people in funny outfits with talking machines on their coats gave me fussing! Apparently this work is a police station and the funny outfit hoomans are called police officers. They catch baddies and put them in the jail place.
Also, the lady hooman was asked by a funny farmer man, if I will go to another work with her when it gets cold - a thing they call shooting. I can find birds and make them fly for hoomans with loud banging things they call guns. I will also be allowed to go and get the birds that the gun thing has made fall from the sky but I think I will have to bring them back to the lady hooman and not eat them myself. The lady hooman is starting to show me how to do it right although I do have some ideas of my own! I think I would like to do this with her and hope my poorly heart lets me stay around to try it. Talking of the ticker - it is OK - my new meds are doing a good job. My hoomans say it is like I have always been here and long may it last.
Anyway, best go, as tomorrow Hilda has to go and have her Lady op so she will be in a right two and eight - I am going to give her a big cuddle - she will tell me if she wants it or not and then because she cannot have any breakfast I am going to eat it for her! 'Cos I am good like that!
Stay cool and I will update on my antics again soon,
Woofs and licks,
Alfred X
